Description of Programs, Committees and Initiatives

  • Meeting Activities: The Rotary Club organizes various activities and discussions during their meetings to engage and involve their members. Help support activities like flag setup, Zoom setup, happy jar, and other day-of-program activities at weekly meetings. This is not necessarily a weekly commitment but based upon your availability and how you want to serve.
  • Community Service: The Rotary Club actively participates in projects and initiatives that benefit the local community and address its needs through local service projects. Help support this committee, organize service projects, and connect with local nonprofits.
  • Marketing and Information Service: The Rotary Club promotes its activities and communicates relevant information to its members and the public through marketing and information services. This includes press releases, website, newsletter, and social media.
  • Member Service: The Rotary Club provides services and support to its members, fostering a sense of belonging and facilitating their engagement in club activities. Support membership through this committee.
  • Youth Service: The Rotary Club focuses on initiatives and programs aimed at serving and empowering young people in the community. This includes things like Rotaract, Interact, RYLA, and the Four-Way Speech Contest among other areas. If you’re interested in supporting youth, this is the area for you.
  • Community Awards: The Rotary Club recognizes and honors individuals or organizations in the community for their outstanding contributions through community awards.
  • Family of Rotary: The Rotary club fosters a sense of unity and support among its members and their families, creating a strong "family" bond within the club. This includes writing notes to members experiencing hardship or helping send get-well and condolences gifts.
  • Finance Committee: The Rotary Club has a committee responsible for overseeing and managing the club's finances and financial planning.
  • Grants Committee: The Rotary Club has a committee that reviews and evaluates grant applications and makes decisions regarding fund allocation for community projects.
  • International Service: The Rotary Club engages in service projects and collaborations on an international scale, addressing global issues and promoting peace and understanding.
  • Programs Committee: The Rotary Club's programs committee plans and organizes weekly program speakers.
  • Nominating Committee: The Rotary Club has a committee that identifies and nominates suitable candidates for leadership positions within the club.
  • Rotary Foundation: The Rotary Club supports the Rotary Foundation, a charitable organization that funds and implements humanitarian projects worldwide. Serving here will be focused on ways our club can be more involved with foundation giving.
  • Brewfest Committee: The Rotary Club organizes and manages a Brewfest event as a fundraiser, providing an opportunity for the community to enjoy local breweries and support charitable causes.
  • Mental Health Summit Committee: The Rotary Club's committee focuses on organizing a mental health summit, addressing and raising awareness about mental health issues in the community. This is a new initiative for 2023
  • Road to Reading Literacy Committee: The Rotary Club's literacy efforts are dedicated to promoting and improving literacy among children, launching in this first year, 2023, focused on providing books for every new kindergartener in DISD and books around peace while partnering with the Denton community at large.
  • Peace Building Committee: The Rotary Club's peace-building committee works towards fostering peace and conflict resolution in the community through education, dialogue, and advocacy. This is a new committee for 2023 and will explore things like peace poles, peace gardens, and other peace-building opportunities in Denton.
  • Flag Committee: The Rotary club's flag committee is responsible for organizing the Rotary flag fundraiser where a flag is placed out for each of the flag holidays. This is one of the longest-standing Rotary projects.
  • Spirit of Service Food Drive Committee: This is a relaunch of a previous project in memory of Rotarian Jim Englebrecht. The Rotary Club's committee organizes and coordinates a food drive with local nonprofits and communities in need to combat hunger.
