I hope you and your loved ones enjoyed a very Happy Thanksgiving and that your week is going well!
•    PROGRAM – Our program this week will be Brenda Jackson with Our Daily Bread and the topic will be feeding the hungry in Denton.  In addition, we will also be inducting the newest member to the Denton Rotary Club, Bryant Mays.
o    DECEMBER 8TH – Denton Convention & Visitors Bureau Update with Kim Phillips
 
 
•    CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY – Please make plans to attend our club’s annual Christmas Party.  This year’s party will again be hosted by Bob and Joanne Moses at their home - 1702 Pine Hills Lane, Corinth, TX,  from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.  This is a wonderful opportunity to socialize and get to know the membership better.  Please bring your spouse, significant other, date, or friend. 
 
•    LITTLE FREE PANTRY – A Little Free Pantry initiative that has been started throughout Denton County.  If you or your company would like to be a part of this, please contact Amber Briggle (soma@somadenton.com) or Pat Smith (psmith@servedenton.org).  For more information go to http://servedenton.org/little-free-pantry/  On the website, you can find a list of questions and answers on why they are needed as well as suggested items to stock it with, and how to sign up.  There is also have a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LFPdenton/
 
•    PAUL HARRIS FELLOW – Several members have approached me about awarding a Paul Harris Fellow for Debbie Merki and asked that I open it up to our membership to participate.  If you would like to donate towards a Paul Harris Fellow to be given to Debbie Merki posthumously, please let Jonny (jramsey18@verizon.net) know within the next couple of weeks.  Also, please continue to keep April and her family in your prayers as they work through this difficult time. Thanks to those who have come forward so far.  We will keep this opportunity available through the Rotary Foundation month and up until Wednesday, December 14th. 
 
•    GUYER INTERACT CLUB – The Interact Club at Guyer High School is having a coat and blanket drive this week to collect for those less fortunate in our community.  If you have items to donate, please bring them to the meeting this week or next.  Their deadline to collect is Thursday, December 8th. 
 
•    BRASWELL INTERACT & PROVIDENCE EARLY ACT CLUBS -  The Early Act Club at Providence Elementary along with the Interact Club at the new Braswell High School are holding a fundraising bake sale this Saturday, December 3rd from 9 AM – 1 PM at the Braswell Craft Show.  They are raising funds to assist a family that has recently been struck with a horrific tragedy.  The school custodian Mrs. Inez, was recently blessed with a new granddaughter.  Quickly, her daughter-in-law suffered some severe complications and within a few days and passed away.  The father (her son) is now being thrust into a world of single parenthood, while  trying to maintain a job to support his little girl, and grieving the loss of the wife.  They had spent the last 10 years saving money to buy a house and start their family.  Recently they spent their savings on the house they found and were so excited to be bringing their baby home to their new house….sadly the father has now had to put it back on the market in hopes of selling it quickly to downsize.   Baked goods  are needed to make the event a success.  If you are able to bake something or pick something up to donate, please bring them to the meeting on Thursday.  If you aren’t able to bake or pick up something, please attend the craft show and support them by buying the baked goods.  Both of these clubs are new starts for us and we want to help get them off to a great start in their first service above self project.
