EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Exceptional Student of the Month (ESOM) is a program that partners the Rotary Club of Denton with the Denton Independent School District, whereby the school district’s Special Education Department selects a student once per month during the school year to be honored by Rotary for qualities other than academics.

Nominating criteria includes one or more of the following:

          Good Citizenship
          Classroom Participation
          Outstanding Attitude
          Demonstrates Responsibility
Grades (not necessarily an “A” student)
          Respectful to peers and teachers
          Good Attendance
          Extracurricular Activities
          Good Work Ethic (hard worker)

This is a program that rewards these often overlooked students by honoring them before a room full of community business leaders.  Parents love it.  Teachers and administrators love it.  Students love it.  And Rotarians love it.
