In the second of a series, Chair Kathy Nicol updated RCFC on recent Community Grants, reviewed the past year's grants and made a plea for increased charitable contributions to RCFC's local Charities funding. Community Grants recently awarded a $2,000 Youth Program grant to Foundation Music School, to be used to purchase instruments for student's use at home until in-person classes resume. The instruments will then become school property to be used by all students.
Nicol also shared CG activities for this current Rotary year:
- Education: 15 grant requests totaling $45,626 – award 3 grants for $6,796
- Health & Welfare: 10 grant requests totaling $41.288 – awarded 2 grants for $5,000
- Arts & Culture: 14 grant requests for $47,000 - awarded 3 grants for $5,000
- Youth: 5 grant requests for $14,400 - awarded 1 grant for $2,000
CG budget was $20,000. Youth category had only $1,500 remaining to award. Thanks to generosity of Dan Mackey and Mike Sollenberger, the full grant request of $2,000 was funded.
