In the second of a series, Chair Kathy Nicol updated RCFC on recent Community Grants, reviewed the past year's grants and made a plea for increased charitable contributions to RCFC's local Charities funding.  Community Grants recently awarded a $2,000 Youth Program grant to Foundation Music School, to be used to purchase instruments for student's use at home until in-person classes resume.  The instruments will then become school property to be used by all students.
Nicol also shared CG activities for this current Rotary year:
  • Education:   15 grant requests totaling $45,626 –  award 3 grants for $6,796
  • Health & Welfare: 10 grant requests  totaling $41.288 – awarded 2 grants for $5,000
  • Arts & Culture: 14 grant requests for $47,000 - awarded 3 grants for $5,000
  • Youth:  5 grant requests for $14,400 - awarded 1 grant for $2,000
CG budget was $20,000.  Youth category  had only $1,500 remaining to award.  Thanks to generosity of Dan Mackey and Mike Sollenberger, the full grant request of $2,000 was funded.
  • Rotary year 2019-2020:  $148,314 requested; $20,000 funded
  • Rotary year 2018-2019:  $123,412 requested; $20,000 funded
Kathy then shared a blank pledge form and directed Rotarian’s attention to “Charities” box at top.  Donations to “charities” makes an immediate impact on what we can do in our next Rotary year.  Please consider donating some of the government’s stimulus $ you have received.  In addition, noon members/meals have not been charged the $220 meal/venue costs this quarter.  If every noon w/meal member donated that $ back to Charities, the Charities budget would increase by more than $17,000.
