Yi-Shin came to Fort Collins and RCFC from Taipei, Taiwan where she lives with her large family, including parents, grandparents, and an elder brother and sister.  Her father is in the insurance business and her mother is a medical commissioner.    Yi-Shin loves her high school in Taipei with its many classes.  She especially enjoys philosophy, where they discuss issues such as morals and science, and language (English and Spanish).  Her school club choice was English debate, which helped prepare for her year at an American high school.

At Poudre High Yi-Shin has had many interesting and exciting experiences, participating in talent shows and student drama productions, sharing her extraordinary abilities as a singer of opera, a pianist, a concert violinist, plus learning new skills such as being a theater stage crew member.  She was chosen to play in the All City Youth Orchestra.   Beyond Poudre, she also volunteers to tutor students at Putnam Elementary School.

Yi-Shin has been able to attend many Rotary activities and appreciates the Rotarians who have included her in their ski trips and other programs.  She enjoys weekly visits to our Rotary meeting when school work allows, and hopes to get better acquainted with more Rotarians before her year is completed in June.

"I want to be an NGO officer or a diplomat in the future, concerning international work and development,” says Yi-Shin.  “I am grateful to have this chance to explore the world.   I want to be a volunteer, too, in order to help kids to have a chance to know the world.”  She adds that the experience this year is enriching her perspectives, broadening her views of the world, and preparing her for the future.
