Our World Community Service Committee recently donated $500 to complete the funding needed for a WASH sanitation extension project in Nairobi, Kenya at the Kirkau Primary School.  Our club contributed to a 2018 WASH sanitation project there and they are now going to build a higher water tank to allow for further coverage of the area. The new higher tank will be placed at a communal water selling point in order to serve Water Bowsers (Vehicular Tanks) who need to pick large volumes in a short time. The plan is to sell about 50 cubic meters per week to these level of customers who in turn deliver to households that are 2 to 5 km from Kirkau.  This will greatly expand the coverage of potable water available for this area.  This will allow providing about 360 additional persons with 20 liters of water per day, the minimum standard set by WHO. The entire system is managed by a water committee and payments for water by users fully covers all operating costs of the system with a reserve for repairs and maintenance.
The primary funding club is the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs, CO.
