At its meeting on November 8th, 2011, the Lebanon Rotary Club was treated to a visit from Satu Niemela, of Finland.  Nancy Funk (widow of longtime Rotarian, Henry Funk) and her family were in attendance to introduce Satu.  Nancy, Henry, and the Funk family hosted Satu, an exchange student from Finland, in the late 1980's.  After high school graduation and upon her returning to Finland, Satu continued her education and became a Physical Education teacher.  She is now an instructor at the School for the Visually Impaired in Jyvaskyla Finland.  It was this job that brought her back to America to present the techniques used at the Finnish school.  The school supports visually impaired students attending public school by providing tutoring, rehabilitation, boarding services, and leisure time activities.  Some activities include soccer, track & field events, biking, basketball, gymnastics, bowling, and cross country skiing.  Satu is married and has four children.
