Santa Maria Urban Ministry Donation Drive
The Santa Maria Urban Ministry was founded in 1983 to provide emergency food to impoverished families in downtown San Jose, and it has done so for 38 years.

As an outreach of the ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino (as is St. Luke’s Church in Los Gatos with whom we serve the our homeless), Santa Maria provides the unhoused and needy in the San Jose downtown area with bagged lunches, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, and other resources.  They serve people of all faiths or none, and do not discriminate on any basis or proselytize.   Clients must show evidence of living within the downtown San Jose zip codes to use the Food Pantry, Farmers’ Market, Clothes Closet, but not for homeless support.

The Ministry also has programs for After School Zoom Homework, Adult Learning, Teen Leadership, Youth Summer Camps, and provides free tax help to clients.

For more information about Santa Maria, you can visit their website:  https://www.santamariasj.org/

The Rotary Club of Los Gatos will be supporting Santa Maria with material donations from our members, and your families, neighbors and friends, of the following items:

  •             Clothing, shoes, socks, baby clothes
  •             Hygiene items
  •             Canned foods (especially protein rich: tuna, peanut butter, etc.)
  •             Fresh fruits, vegetables
  •             School and craft supplies.

We anticipate that this will be an ongoing project in the months ahead.  For those interested in helping, or participating in some of the other Santa Maria projects, contact Barbara Fishman, who will be coordinating this project and will also make the deliveries.
