PRESIDENT MARK started our meeting by leading us into a moment of silence for the people of the Ukraine, today represents 90 days since Russia invaded. We also had a moment of silence for the passing of Rotarian Dr. LENN DITMANSON.
 
New Member TOM LICKLITER led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, encouraging us to really think about the pledge and what it means. We then sang the “ Star Spangled Banner” accompanied by the talented KHRIS DODGE on the keys.
 
KURTIS DAWSON inspired us, though he called us out for being chatty while he was trying to inspire us. He wants us to recognize the incredible community we live in, mainly the amazing people in the community who step up to make a difference.
 
KHRIS DODGE introduced our guests, brought back the hook and the KHRIS DODGE original jingle “Be bright, Be Bold, Be Goooooone”.
 
Matt Russell introduced our keynote speaker(s) today from the Film Creation Studio; Karen Farrell and Adrianna Rincon with Angel Charity for Children and their program “40 Years of Miracles”.  Did you know that Angel Charity for Children has raised over $29 million for over 120 beneficiaries, serving over one million children in our community. The impact they have had in Tucson has been immeasurable. We are fortunate to have this organization and the 250 members that serve in our Community. Thank you!
 
SCOTT VAUGHAN celebrated his birthday with us and he brought along his Son, his son’s girlfriend and he spoke of his granddaughter to celebrate her graduation from high school with honors!! Way to go!
 
He then went on to do a Paul Harris Presentation for WES WIGGINS and DAN DEVOU. The gifts of little or no value were given; DAN received a book of lists and WES a lucky putter to help with his golf game. But most importantly they received their Paul Harris, Congratulations!
 
CHARLOTTE HARRIS shared a few history moments 1) Member JIM WOOD Jr.’s grandmother shared some club memorabilia from when JIM'S grandfather; WILLIAM J. WOOD was a member of our club 2) Picture of the Boy Scouts building we helped with when Rotarian BILL LONG was the Scout Master.  We also had a current photo of the building as well. 3) CHAR also talked about the Chapareles Scholarship Endowment fund 4) And lastly she let us know that a poem written by member WALLES in 95-96 was distributed at the tables and we all had an opportunity to read through it.
 
VICKIE JACOBS introduced NANCY FARBER as the newest member of the club - Welcome NANCY!
 
RAFFLE TIME! Our keynote, Karen Farrell, had the winning ticket, but the King of Hearts was not pulled. She generously donated back her winnings  - thank you Karen!!  
 
On to announcements:
 
A cute video was played from the Boys and Girls club thanking the Rotary Club of Tucson!
DOT KRET is the most recent addition to “Irv’s Fly Fishing Fund - she of course rapped to us about the battle she had with the Fishing slot machine.
Our Adorable stuffed bears and dogs are still looking for homes for babies/Grandbabies of Rotarians.
The Change of Administration party is coming soon: June 18th at the Mountain Oyster Club, please be sure to sign up on our club's website.
We have a replacement mixer next week at Trident III on Wednesday 6/1/22. All must register on the club website.  Remember NO LUNCH MEETING!
And JOE DANISZEWSKI shared some news with a happy Jackson. His son tied the knot! He explained all of this while trying to outrun KHRIS DODGE and the Hook.
JEANNE ZETAH also asked for RYE hosts for an incoming student next year, we need the first family and the third family. Contact JEANNE if you are interested or know someone who might want to host.
 
Remember, next week there is no lunch meeting due to our Replacement Mixer at Trident III.
