Anniversaries...while the rest of America celebrates INDEPENDENCE Day...Mike Gemma again celebrates an extra special 4th of July with wife Julie.
Birthdays...6/30...George Cooper, who at 45 has a record of fooling Dunkin Donuts drive-thru folks into giving him senior citizen coffee discounts.
Guests: Ira Steinberg, all the way from Oberlin, OH, visited our club. Corey Guglietti, guest of Bob MacKenzie, also joined us as a guest. And former member Nanci Thompson joined us. (Nanci had several Rotarian friends claiming her as a guest.) A warm Rotary welcome to all...
President Bob noted several awards on his final day in power. These were also mentioned at the 6/14 Installation Banquet. First, the Rotary Club of East Greenwich received a Rotary International Presidential Citation. Secondly, Bob presented a Vocational Service Award. Thirdly, Bob Greene was given a special District 7950 citation for leadership and excellence in Rotary, for his 41 perfect years of attendance. (Question--is there any other Rotarian in the Rotary world and its 1.2 million members able to say he/she has 41 perfect years?! Kudos, Bob, from all of us.) Finally, President Bob gave Jon Widmark a framed 2010-2011 Phonebook cover in saying thanks for Jon's great work as leader of the Phonebook committee.
President Bob passed around an old photo, circa 1985, of EG Rotary members. One can see lots more hair, fewer grays, remnants of the Dry Look, and even a younger looking Vin Meola, who had the Serpico look well under control.
Ed Neff reported on the recent District Conference, and he presented the Sao Paolo flag he received.

-Amy Levin thanked Heaven for her daughter's completion of studies and her new job.
-Beth DeGerlia congratulated Rotary Scholarship recipients for their awards, including Rocky Hill's own Polina Oganesyan.

Dave Iannuccilli presented 6 of the 11 most recent East Greenwich Rotary Scholarship Fund awardees, who introduced themselves to the Club and thanked the Club for their respective scholarships.
Congratulations to all scholarship recipients, and, congratulations to Dave, The EG Rotary Scholarship Fund board, and the Rotary Club of East Greenwich for awarding $15,000 this year.
The recipients will also attend a winter break meeting in December, at which time they will receive their funds and give the Club a report on academic and other activities.
