$5,000 to Victims of the Trafalgar East Fire.   Chuck Sauer, Rotary Emergency Action Program chairperson, contacted the Board by e-mail last week and got approval for a contribution to help the 42 adults and 6 children who lost everything in the blaze.   The community has rallied to get these people back on their feet, with some great stories about various "quiet" donations.  Pat Lenihan helped by coordinating donations of money and clothing at her office.  The Chamber coordinated information and got out details to the public.  www.eastgreenwichchamber.com    A fund rasing dinner will be held on Monday the 8th at Pal's  and another on Tuesday the 9th at McKinley's (which is near Norton's Marina.)   We also chipped in the collection from Happy Buck and will do so again on the 10th.   Our first collection came up with $154.   Service Above Self lives on.

Jane Boynton is still cranking on the Wine Tasting / Gourmet Beer event that will have all of Rhode Island Talking.  It is set for May 20th at 6:30 at Crestar, the Frame Factory, right behind Centreville Bank.  This spacious, airy gallery setting provides a unique flavor and has been used for a number of similar events.    There will be seating, but not tables and chairs in the traditional mode.  There are lots of tables, which will provide places to eat and chairs will be set in strategic areas where people can relax and mingle.   Ask your friends, ask your neighbors, ask people who walk past your house in warm weather.

Bill Ten Eyck made a pitch for Auction items.  Can you donate a boat ride, a weekend at your vaction home in Aspen, use of your butler for a week, a ride in your hot air baloon, use of your Chauffer and Bentley for a day.   Just something simple.  Let Jane know.

As soon as tickets are available, they will be on sale from the Chamber office at 580 Main Street for the public.    Members can just let Jane or a member of the committee know they will be attending and give them the money.  An actual ticket will not be necessary.

Judy Pratt is finalizing the t-shirts for the big race and roundiing up all last minute sponsors.  If you are a last minute sponsor get her your money and any details regarding you listing.

John Wolcott is off the hook.  He has the lodging he needs for the entire GSE team and even a back up.  They'll be here May 1-8.
