The truly faithful showed up for the meeting Wednesday, but thousands of members were absent, claiming they had to take their kids on vacation.  President Bob was among the missing, claiming to be on a college visitation trip with his son.  The small group present for the meeting enjoyed second helpings and lots of dessert.   To fill this newsletter I am including pictures of

people eating.

Lou Lepry, our own flower boy, says Friday, March 5th is the last day to order Daffodils.  Delivery day is March 22.  Lou has bouquets available from $10.00 and up.  Potted bulbs are $15.00 and a Bear and a Bunch is $$25.00 - includes a collectible special edition Boyds T Bear and 10 Daffodils.  Lou, whose hobby is flower arranging, says the daffodil is his favorite flower and his house is filled with them.   All the proceeds from this Daffodil Days sale go to the American Cancer Society.

A blast from the past!   Kevin Inkley's name was drawn as our latest Paul Harris Fellow.  Kevin, a past president, has maintained his participation in a "team", and his name came up in the drawing.  Kevin is now a member of the New Bedford club and their President-elect.

John Wolcott is forging ahead with plan for a visit by a GSE team the first weekend in May.  The District will be visited by a group from Uruguay, one man and four women.   The Wolcotts, Essex and DePrimos have offered to host a member of the team for one week and John is looking for two more Rotarians willing to welcome one of these guests into their home.  See John if you have a spare room and can provide breakfast and a little transportation.   While the team is here they will be our program in a joint meeting with North Kingstown.

Happy Bucks was a bonanza as Stan Reuter kicked in $18.00 in honor of his first grandchild, a boy, born on February 4th.   But the big bucks came from Bob Miller who contributed $100 to the scholarship fund.  The gift was in honor of his birthday.  However Bob can't bring himself to admit how old he is and camouflaged his age with the $100.  Usually he gives the exact amount of his birthday.  Last year he was 69, but we don't know how old he is this year.  During his party there was some concern in his neighborhood, caused by the bright glow in the sky caused by the candles on his cake.  CVS said it was one of the largest candle sales in their records.

Another great program from Ed Neff, who introduced Chuck Aldrin, a 30 year veteran of the US Foreign Service.    Chuck was inspired by the creation of the Peace Corps and followed that experience with his service in Government.  He had some great assignments and enjoyed the experience, but said those who serve do give up a lot of connection with family while on duty around the world.
