There is hope.  Wilth MacKenzie and Neff Absent Mike Gemma took over and , displaying the new, vibrant face of Rotary.  Working with nothing, he crafted a sensational meeting that had members on their feet several times.  There was only one rough spot, when at the beginning of the meeting Mike clanged the bell and members ignored him.   A reminder that we couldn't eat until after opening ceremonies brought them to attention.

SERVE this coming Saturday....7:00 am at Christ Chruch Main and Cedar.  This is a big one.  Takes only about an hour of your time as you help set up and distribute the food orders.  Counts as a make up and is also your good deed for the week.

Wrapping the presents.   A group gathered at Chuck Sauer's office just before meeting time to wrap the gifts for our holiday family.  Without our help the three little kids in the family would have nothing from Santa.  Because of your generosity they are going to have a fun Christmas, tearing open packages, just as little kids are supposed to.

Two new Paul Harris Fellows.   Lee Whittaker, a former club member who has kept up his contribution to a Paul Harris Group, and Vin Meola are the latest Paul Harris Fellowship recipients.   A Paul Harris Fellowship represents a donation of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation.  Members of our club form groups of four or five  and each contributes $200 or $250 a year.  Each year one name is drawn from the group as the recipient.  See George Popella if you would like to become part of a group.

Citrus Drive Wrap Up.   Chair Mike Balsamo reports we met our goal.   We ordered extra fruit and work is now underway to dispsose of those cases.  The committee hauled them to Mike's office after the drive.  The office is on a second floor, and the elevator broke during the transition.   The problem was solved and the fuit is safe.

Phone Book.   Johnathan Widmark reports $8,500 still to be collected.   Bills have been sent and calls made.  Those who sold the ads are asked to make contact with their clients and ask for payment.

Tips for the staff.  As is usual we passed the hat, collecting money for a tip for the staff at the Post Office Cafe.  The hat was filled with a lot of $20 bills.  Some members asked how much to give...to which there is no correct answer.  The hat will be passed again next week for those not present.  If you already gave it might be nice to toss in a $10 or another $20 if the mood strikes you...as this does represent an entire year.

Classsification Talk.   Once again one of the best programs came from a member as Dave Caldwell gave his classification talk.   Introduced by his sponsor, Bill McHale, Dave touched briefly on his 8 years in the Marines and his current work with Caldwell /  Johnson.  Among other building projects, he is working on a "green" home which will be 50% more efficient than current dwellings.  The future goal is 80% and more.  Dave took lots of good questions about the future of energy conservation, stressing that spending a little more on an energy efficient home will generate substantial savings for the future.
