The Rotary Foundation (TRF) uses a variety of means of monitoring and evaluating the quality of projects it funds. In the first half of 2018, the Foundation conducted a study of the sustainability of its global grant projects. To help conduct the study, TRF sent out members of its Cadre of Technical Advisors (Rotarians who serve as volunteer experts) to interview project participants about the sustainability of a selection of completed projects. Results will be provided to TRF Trustees so that they can make informed decisions about changes to global grant requirements moving forward.
A member of our Gore club, Candace Bangura, served as a Cadre member in the sustainability study, traveling to Phuket, Thailand in June. The project, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Phuket South, provided young people the opportunity to study in a year-long after-school programme to learn computer programming and website design. Candace, who’s background is in community and economic development, conducted 20 interviews with youth participants during her visit to Phuket.
