The New Woodend Star is a monthly community paper published by the Rotary Club of Woodend. It has become the Club’s highest-profile and most enduring contribution to the community.

It provides visibility for Rotary Woodend and our projects and is a fantastic way to promote Rotary International.

The publication is a reference point for local news, events, local services, products and community organisations.  It is fully funded by advertising revenue, all content is written by the community and for the community and all Woodend Rotarians and many friends are involved in the production process.

During the COVID lockdowns the New Woodend Star became a linchpin, keeping the community together with many business sending messages of gratitude for the support they had received from within their community.

Since its inception in 1997, the New Woodend Star has been a constant and reliable source of fundraising for Woodend Rotary. The loyal support of our advertisers has seen us raise nearly $300,000 which has been given back to the community through projects that benefit the whole community.  For example,, the club constructed the Rotary walking track complete with exercise equipment at points along the track, provided annual support for local emergency services, provided equipment to establish a Men’s Shed and supported many other local community groups.
