A Transformative Journey for a Special Rotarian

Keith Harris, after 187 miles of pedaling, arrived in Pittsfield, MA on August 10, 2014 at midnight. He rode by the light of the moon, pedaling down old Route 20, heading home. And home he will be on August 16, 2015. He’ll be dipping his wheel in the Atlantic around 1:00 PM, and then pedaling to the Newburyport Brewing Company at 4 New Pasture Road, Newburyport, MA. There will be a reception there from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, with munchies, a cash bar and cash soft drinks, and District 7930 comradery. There will be a band starting at 5:00 pm for those that would like to hang out following the reception.

Saugus & Wakefield Clubs Friends Forever Fundraiser

On August 14th, the Saugus, Reading and Wakefield Rotary Clubs will be holding a joint meeting for a presentation by Friends Forever. Saugus, Reading and Wakefield sponsored the Friends Forever Program this summer, with a teen team from Israel.

The cost of the event is $15, and will be held at Prince Pizza on Route 1 in Saugus at 12:00 noon. If you are interested in attending, please contact me by e-mail (rcgravino@aol.com) by next Monday, and I will pass the number of reservations on to the Saugus Club for meal preparation purposes.

Friends Forever Mission Statement

Friends Forever is a 501c3 non profit organization with a mission to promote trust, empathy, and friendships among cultures in conflict. WE do this by recruiting and selecting highly motivated youth from these areas to participate in a year long program that begins with a two week "Life Raft" in select US Host Communities. Visit their website to learn more!

1st Vision Facilitation at the Rotary Club of Stoneham

On August 5 2014, the District 7930 Visioning Training Team held the first Club Visioning session with The Rotary Club of Stoneham with 14 great Rotarians, including President Amy Palmerino. I was very excited and motivated to see the Stoneham Rotarians engage, discuss and articulate where the Club is, where it wants to go and how they need to achieve maximum success.

The training team did an outstanding job in creating an environment that supported the Club members to really identify and target goals and to assist them in what will work best for the The Rotary Club of Stoneham!

Without a doubt, the Stoneham Rotarians will continue to make a difference in their community.

I would strongly suggest that every Club in our District take advantage of yet another resource in which our District has to offer to our Clubs – Club Visioning! If you are interested, please contact Peter Majane at peter.majane@gmail.com.

North Andover Interact Medical Equipment Project

The North Andover Rotary Club sponsors their Interact students working at International Medical Equipment Collaborative in North Andover on each first Saturday of the month from 10am - 1pm.  They load pallets of re-purposed medical supplies and equipment for shipment to countries in need of medical suites as identified by various non-governmental organizations around the world.

Every pallet is said to touch 2,000 lives. This is a service day where concrete proof trumps tragedy. Any and all Rotarians or Interact students are welcome to join. Contact President Chris Carroll at 978 729 4821.

LOOKING FOR SPEAKERS?

Having a dynamic and inspiring speaker at your club's meeting can be a powerful way to retain and attract members.

The task of finding quality speakers can be daunting! District 7930 has created a speaker bureau database to help clubs share and find speakers who have presented for clubs and been  well received. Please check it out by going to the District website and clicking on "Speaker Database" on the left side of the home page.  We have a list of specific names as well as a list of Rotary programs available to your club. This list is growing so be sure to check back in often!  Right now there are enough suggested programs to fill in most of the Rotary year! Click here to view the Speaker Database.

If your club has had a great speaker please send in their name and contact information to PDG Terri Kidder at terrikidder@yahoo.com
