BOA TARDE!

Ok, that along with Obrigado (thank you) and Batata Frita (French fries) this is my extent of my Portuguese that I picked up in Sao Paulo!

It was an incredible experience to attend and participate at our 2015 Rotary International Convention June 6-9. It was great to see thousands of Rotarians from all over the world come celebrate this past year. There were outstanding plenary sessions including remarks from Gov. Geraldo Alckmin and Fernando Haddad, Mayor of Sao Paulo to RI President Gary Huang and President-elect K.R. “Ravi” Ravindran. Even Dr. Oscar Arias, Former president of Costa Rica and Nobel Peace Laureate.

An overwhelming display of projects displayed at the House of Friendship! As many of you know, I do not dance. I have no rhythm at all, but the music, atmosphere and excitement of Carnival was rocking! The glamor and energy of the Samba parade was very high!

Here, it was confirmed to me that Rotarians, all over the world, LOVE to enjoy FELLOWSHIP! It was worth the trip in of itself.

Next May, DGE Sheryl will attend the 2016 Convention in Seoul Korea. I am contemplating joining her! The 2017 Convention will be in Atlanta and WE will celebrate OUR Foundation’s 100 years. What a great place to celebrate.

Remember, anyone can register and attend a Rotary International Convention and I hope that many of us do! It provides another opportunity for us to experience and to see the powerful impact of what You, as Rotarians do, in our communities to improve the lives of so many!
