NORTHEAST PETS PROPELS CLUB PRESIDENTS

It is always an inspirational time for Rotarians to meet at the annual President Elect Training Seminar (PETS). This year president-elects, and assistant governors from eight Districts from all six New England States and parts of Canada embarked to Framingham, MA for three days of training, inspiration and fellowship. We were fortunate to hear from Rotary International President-Elect K.R. "Ravi" Ravindran on his 2015-16 Theme "Be a Gift to the World", RI Trustee Mike McGovern and District 7930's own RI Director, Julia Phelps! Each gave powerful speeches that motivated and inspired all of us. Our PE's also heard from many other great speakers and had top-notch training sessions. Many of which were facilitated by D7930 Rotarians. Our Leaders were chosen to help facilitate and train over 500 Rotarians!

I was incredibly proud to hear back from many PE's and AG's about their experience and wanted to share with you what my friend, PE Mike Burns from The Wilmington Rotary Club had to say about his experiences:

"Just a quick note regarding this weekend's PETS conference.  I found it to be an  extremely positive educational experience.  The information which I received during both the organized meetings and involvement with other incoming presidents from other states provided me with a lot of new ideas for the upcoming year...given me a much better understanding as to many aspects of Rotary International which I didn't know. Overall I found it to be a terrific and valuable session to which I will strongly recommend to others in the future."

My friends, Rotary provides us with many training opportunities, seminars, conferences, meetings, etc. Time taken out of your busy schedules. Time away from work and your family.  We go because we want to learn. We go because we want to see our friends. We go because we want to network. But, more importantly we go because there are too many people in this world  who need us, who depend on seeing that Rotary wheel in their communities, who look for us to provide, clean water, food, shelter, peace, love, safety, community development, or the tools to learn how to read and write. That is why we are Rotarians. We must never forget that!

As we continue to "Light up Rotary" under the leadership of our District Governor Peter Simonsen, I want to thank you all for being the great Rotarian that you are!
