Rotary International President John Germ has stated that this year, Rotarians all over the world will be classified as the All Star Team. As District 7930, we are one big team (“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” – Helen Keller). As a team, we are making a difference – each and every day. As I conduct my District 7930 Club Visits, I see so many Rotarians within our District making that difference.

This month started with our Installation Dinner which was truly an amazing event celebrating last year’s accomplishments and installation of Club Presidents. During this glorious night, I think everyone in attendance experienced the Magic of Rotary – I know I did! Thank you to Christina Harris and each and every member of her team for an exceptional start for our 2016 – 2017 year.

It’s now July 25th and I wonder where the time has flown!  July 7th I conducted my very first club visit with Rockport Rotary.  On July 4th, Rockport Rotary conducts the Reading of the Declaration of Independence as an annual event which is so well received within not only the community but also by visitors to their beautiful town!

July 8th was a very busy day! I started my Rotary day with a morning breakfast meeting at the Andover Rotary Club. President Holly Nahabedian designated this meeting as a Pajama meeting. While no one actually dressed in PJs, the meeting was relaxed and informal. We discussed the tremendous difference they are making by educating the Andover public on Opioid addiction through their “Andover Cares” program. That evening we joined Ipswich Rotary and Ipswich Rotary UK at the District 7930 District Red Sox Game! I was very proud to represent our District on the Field with Ipswich Rotary UK’s Representative, Mark Murphy. It was an exciting night and the Red Sox won!

I was honored to attend Saugus Rotary on July 14th. Incoming President Dan Pranka is an exceptional host. This is Dan’s second term as President of the Saugus Rotary and has re-initiated the “Team” concept which I found truly amazing! I hope he’ll share his approach with others clubs within the district as this truly increases attendance and the fun!

Tuesday, July 19th brought us to Dave Gardner’s home club – Stoneham Rotary Club. I was so impressed with this club’s community involvement and commitment to the youth of their city. President Craig Celli conducted his first meeting with style!

My Governor’s visit to North Andover on July 21st was exciting. They are truly looking at different avenues to not only raise funds for community programs, but also to increase membership. President Mike Pansovoy conducted a great meeting with members who are committed to making a difference in their community and nationally.

In addition to club visits, Bob Wood and I met with the 2016 Rotaplast Mission Ambassadors Lisa Collin and Dave Boudreau who participated in last year’s Rotaplast mission to Cebu. They will be reaching out to every club within our District to further the interest of our commitment to make a difference to the world’s children.

Lastly, but certainly not least, our Assistant Governors met at the beautiful home of AG Anne Lewis to discuss how they can support their clubs to the best of their abilities. I know that each and Assistant Governor is committed to helping our clubs to be successful in the coming year. Please feel free to reach out to them to help you to be the “best club you can be”.

Today I will visit my home club – Danvers Rotary and will give you an update on this and future Governor’s club visits and meetings in my next Governor’s  message.

Until then, please know how honored I am to work with each and every one of you. We are better than the best – WE are the All Star Team!  I know that as a member of the All Star Team, WE will experience the magic of Rotary as “Rotarians Serving Humanity”.

Keep smiling,
Sheryl
