Join Downtown Boston Rotary as a Junior Achievement Volunteer
Come join the Rotary Club of Downtown Boston on Friday April 8th as we volunteer as teachers at the Josiah Quincy Elementary School in Boston through Junior Achievement. As a JA volunteer, you will have the unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Boston’s youth by teaching essential life lessons about personal finance, civics and business that aren’t taught in school! If you’re worried that you don’t know how to teach, don’t be! You’ll be paired with a partner and you’ll receive a powerful and easy-to-follow lesson that walks you through every step of the process. Volunteering for this event is a full day commitment, running from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Remaining spots are limited and time is running out to register, so sign up today! This event is always the highlight of our volunteer calendar for the year!

Announcing the District 7930 Softball League
Rotary District 7930 will have a Rotary softball league again this year. The first games of the season will start the week of May 2nd.  The league currently has six teams; Beverly, Chelsea, Danvers, Marblehead/Salem, Salem, NH and Woburn. Teams play ten regular season games, one game per week starting at 6:00 pm.  Every team than enters the play-offs for a chance to win the league championship.  The league has an annual picnic which will be on Wednesday, July 13th at John George Park in Danvers.

All Rotarians and their family and friends are invited to the picnic. After games team members will usually get together for Rotary fellowship. We welcome other District 7930 Rotary clubs to join our league this year. We also welcome individual Rotarians to join other teams in the league if your club is not able to field a team. Several of the teams in the league have members from several Rotary clubs. The purpose of the league is to provide one more avenue for Rotarian camaraderie and some exercise. The skill and age level of members of the league truly represent the demographics of current Rotary clubs.  All games are played in the spirit of Rotary with having a good time top priority.

The Rotary Club of Andover is Growing!
Since December 2015, seven new community and service-minded individuals have stepped up to join the Rotary Club of Andover. Membership Chair Al Ruthazer attributes the growth to several things, including the fall 2015 Andover Cares movement.  He feels that this introduced the potential of Rotary’s service opportunities to many people who want to make a difference in our community. Following the October 2015 Andover Cares Festival, many volunteers wanted to get more involved, but the traditional service club model of required weekly breakfast meetings made it impossible for them to join. Hearing this, Andover Rotary created a new flexible Service Membership, and also added an evening meeting option each month.

“We're a great club,” said Membership Chair Ruthazer, “and the option to attend Rotary meetings at night has made our club accessible to some people who wanted to be a part of the best service club in town, but were unable to attend Friday morning meetings. In addition, members have the option to be Service members. This Service membership option allows people unable to attend a meeting every week to still contribute to all of our service projects with gusto, as full Rotary members.”

Do You Care About Membership In Your Club?
Increasing the number of members in your Rotary Club should be a top priority for your Rotary Club. As we approach the beginning of the 2016 - 2017 Rotary year, every Club should have a Membership Development Plan in place to increase and retain membership. Does your club? If not, please consider attending the webinar

The webinar will include the process of creating a membership development plan and provides strategies and tools you can use to attract and engage new members.

Club Assessment tools will be shared that will enable you to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your club related to attracting and retaining members. There will be a review of best practices to be a Vibrant Club which is essential to attracting new members.

The webinar is intended for Club Officers, Club Membership Chairs, Membership Committee members, Assistant Governors and anyone interest in learning how to increase membership in your Club.

What's New About the Conference?
This year's District Conference and Assembly is coming along with new developments all the time. Friday night's Mystery Dining is half booked, so please don't wait. This fellowship event is full of fun and surprises. We're thrilled to announce that our service project or Saturday morning will be packaging at least 10,000 meals for End Hunger New England. These packages will stay right here in our district, benefiting food relief organizations right in our neighborhoods. Dan Clark, the singing trooper will also be performing Saturday. You may have seen Dan perform at Fenway or at a Patriots game. Lastly, hockey legend Ray Bourque is set to be one of our featured speakers Saturday night. A not-to-miss for any sports fan, Ray's message will also speak to the volunteer in all of us. Don't miss out, register now. For the full schedule, click on Read More.
