The Arnprior Rotary Club set up a meeting with Andrea Patrick, Ontario Works Manager to hand over the Gift Cards to aid Ottawa River Flood Victims provided by a group of Rotary Clubs. Although the floods came in the spring and lasted through the summer many families are still struggling in our area.  The collection of these funds was spearheaded by Dave Palmer of the Arnprior Club and all of our three of our clubs joined together to make this donation possible.
The total $3,050 of Gift Cards included:
            $1,250 from Canadian Tire,
            $400 from W. O. Stinson Fuel and
            $1,400 President’s Choice for groceries.

Andrea has spoken at length with Neil Nicholson, councillor from Whitewater Region, regarding the ongoing recovery efforts in their community.  The Mennonite Disaster Service organization is in their community working on restoration and rebuilding of homes damaged by the flood waters.  It is estimated that they will be there for another 9-10 months.  Whitewater Region has set up official channels to receive donations of money or gift cards and would gratefully accept any to help families with recovery efforts.
