Our (Virtual) Rotary Foundation Walk

Although we will not all come together in Canton, NY, for the Annual D7040 Rotary Foundation Walk this year, a modified walk is still set for Saturday, May 9, 2020, 10:00 am.  Unfortunately, for the time being, the CoVid19 pandemic has changed our way of doing life.  Individuals will now walk in their own community…at least 6 feet apart…on a trail, around a large parking lot or perhaps the exterior of a civic center.  Be as creative as you want - following your governmental guidance!

The Canton Rotary Club invites you to come together in spirit for a leisurely walk in a location of your choosing on May 9th, beginning at 10:00am while maintaining physical distancing. We encourage you to take pictures to share your walk experience with the District!  The suggested walk distance is a 5K (3.2 mile) or whatever is comfortable for you.

We request that you begin your walk at 10:00am and submit your pictures, with comments, on your club’s Facebook page by 1:00pm. Also, by 3:00pm, please send the following to rjpatnode01@twc.com:  Club name, number of walkers and total amount raised.  Families and non-members wishing to walk should be counted through their sponsor Rotarian.

Club Rotary Foundation chairs and Presidents, please reach out to your respective club members to consider their annual donation to The Rotary Foundation.  Instead of passing around the customary clipboard, we are asking you to start collecting pledges, complete the multi-donor form and collect funds.  After all is completed, send the multi-donor form with your club’s check (whatever is in your budget as a line item to TRF, along with individuals’ checks to TRF or TRF Canada.  If you would like a Multi-Donor Form to collect pledges, please click here.

* Note: Please email a copy of the multi-donor form to bonblack@yahoo.com and rjpatnode01@twc.com. All donors will receive a tax-deductible email or letter from The Rotary Foundation after it is processed in June.  Remember that these funds from clubs and Rotarians given this year to the Annual Fund, will come back to our district in 3 years for our District and Global Grants!

The Canton Rotary Club looks forward to your participation in an exciting walk in support of The Rotary Foundation, getting out in the fresh air and seeing club members – 6 feet apart – rather than virtually.

Have fun and stay healthy!
