May is Youth Services Month in Rotary. Is your club involved with youth in some way? Have you sponsored an Earlyact, Interact, or Rotaract Club? How about Youth Exchange?  If this is a task your club feels is too big for you to tackle, then you could co-sponsor a club with another Rotary Club. Read more for some ideas.....

Some clubs find it difficult to commit to sponsoring a club. There are other ways to become involved with youth in your community:

  • Invite students to help out in a meaningful way at a fundraiser you are organizing. Students can then be granted volunteer hours for their required community service.

  • Contact a local school and offer to take part in a career day.

  • Donate books to the school library

  • Organize a local spelling bee

  • Donate money for an educational trip or a speaker at a school

  • Donate bursaries at graduation ceremonies

  • You may also sponsor a candidate for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). If your club does not have a candidate, donate the funds to the RYLA organizing committee and they will use the money to support a candidate.

These are only some ways your club can become involved with youth in your community.

Thanks to those members of the District 7070 Youth Exchange Committee, chaired by Larry Wright, who spend many hours arranging, organizing and supporting inbound and outbound students who take part in this worthwhile program. Click here for the District 7070 Youth Exchange Website

Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
