MAY 2020 - What's Inside:

  • Check out the Newsletters from District Governor Beth Selby, R I President Mark Maloney and from the Chair of the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation Gary Huang.
  • Help us Honour Past District Governor Bill Patchett as we continue our "Mill for Bill" fundraising campaign for The Rotary Foundation, all year long. When you make your donation to The Rotary Foundation or ask someone for a donation, please remember "just a little more for Bill".  Who will be the one (individual or Club) to get us over the $1,000,000 mark?  Who will get us to our goal of $1,000,000 ?
  • Check out the latest COVID-19 information form Rotary International and District 7070 and see how you and your Club can help others in your community. Is your club meeting on-line yet? Check the new menu bar named "Rotary and COVID-19" . We encourage you to connect with your club members. Stay safe everyone.
  • Please check your own Club website and all of your social media sites: Be sure to tell the public that if you are not meeting at your regular location, you are still meeting  - on-line. INVITE THEM TO JOIN YOU ON LINE. Leave a contact person's name and email address so they can personally invite anyone who may be interested in joining you. 
  • District Governor Elect Mark Chipman reminds us to register for the 2020 District 7070 Conference as soon as you can. 
  • Please fill out the new District 7070 survey to help you District leaders with the new District 7070 Strategic Plan. 
  • Be sure to review Rotary's new Strategic Plan as you make plans to update or create your own Rotary Club Strategic Plan
  • Good luck to all of the Clubs that entered the 2019-20 Public Image Contest for a chance to win $500 for one of your clubs service projects? . CONTEST DEADLINE IS EXTENDED TO MAY 31,2020. Lots of time for you to enter.
  • ARE YOU TAGGING US (District 7070) in all of your social media?

  • Has your club qualified to apply for Rotary District and Global Grants for THE NEW ROTARY YEAR 2020-21? See how your club can qualify right here in this District Newsletter. Did your club attend the workshop on February 29, 2020 ?  Did your club get an update from those who attended?  Did you know the deadline to request a 20-21 District Grant is VERY SOON?
  • Have you applied for a special District Grant to help your community get through COVID-19? Everyone got a letter and its in the Rotary Foundation menu bar , on the District 7070 Website.
  • Are you going to be online at the May 2, 2020 Rotary International Telethon from 11 am to 12 noon to participate in a COVID-19 #RotaryResponds one-hour telethon to raise critical funds for disaster response ? The goal is to raise more than $1 million dollars. This live event will be simulcast on Rotary's Facebook page, and streaming will be available in 8 languages.
  • Have you registered for the May 2, 2020 District Grants COVID-19 Process Online Meeting from 11 am to 12 noon? Hear Grants Chair Lars Henriksson provide an overview of the District Grant process and Application Form.  This will assist all Clubs in applying for the District $1000 Grant for COVID-19 related activities by May 31, 2020.
  • Be sure to check out the latest news on Polio Eradication, Shelterbox, WASRAG, Literacy, and Honouring Indigenous People.
  • May is Youth Service Month.  What is your club doing to help promote and carry out service projects focusing on our Youth? Earlyact, Interact, Rotaract, RYLA, Youth Exchange, just to name a few?
  • Are you managing your "Rotary Leads"? See the story on how to connect with potential members who want to join.
  • Check out the new articles on growing Rotary Membership. 
  • Have YOU read the new 2019-20 membership Resources Guide to assist with your membership efforts this Rotary Year
  • Are YOU l​ooking for a service project? Be sure to contact the Areas of Focus Co-ordinators . Perhaps you can volunteer and help and be on one of their teams.
  • Have you visited the New Rotary Learning Centre yet?  The link is in the District Newsletter.
  • Be sure to look at the editions of the Rotary Leader, in the Education Tab on the District Website.
  • Is it time for a Visioning Session for Your Club? Check out the story in the Newsletter and get in touch with Lars Henriksson.

A suggestion to Club Presidents: There is a place in the Newsletter for News from Clubs. What have you accomplished that you would announce to everyone in the District? (Please note that we would love to see your "accomplishments", not "fundraisers" and not "cheque presentations"). 

 

NOTE TO CLUB PRESIDENTS: DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE STILL TOO MANY ROTARIANS IN OUR DISTRICT THAT DO NOT GET THIS NEWSLETTER BECAUSE THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS IS NOT UP TO DATE IN CLUBRUNNER?  PLEASE ASK ALL OF YOUR MEMBERS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS IS CORRECT IN THEIR PROFILE IN CLUBRUNNER.
