Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors from all across District 7070 were  People of Action and helped fulfill Rotary International President Ian Riseley's wish that Rotarians plant 1.2 million trees in 2017-18. Kevin Power, our District 7070 Mr. Tree, from the Rotary Club of Toronto, had everyone planting 250 trees on April 22 at Sunnybrook Health and Sciences Centre & Veterans Care Facility. 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto. Rotarians were a very big part of District 7070's  Earth Day.......

It was a busy Earth Day for Rotary clubs across the GTA. On April 22, hundreds of trees were planted as part of the living memorial honouring those who served our country and sacrificed their lives. Contributions to the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign on behalf of various Rotary Clubs and Rotary District 7070 were also be announced. To date, at least 20 Rotary Clubs from District 7070 (which stretches from Toronto to Belleville) have become engaged in the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign. Enough funds have been pledged for each of the 2,100 club members in the district, each tree ultimately becoming part of the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign.

Why: Environmental sustainability is a key theme to this Rotary year. Rotary International President Ian Riseley issued a challenge for Rotarians to plant 1.2 million trees, one tree for each Rotarian. https://www.rotary.org/en/riseley-says-trees-show-commitment

We also need Rotarians to report trees planted, whether individually or through club projects. Please click on the following link to add your trees towards our district goal of 1 tree for each Rotarian attending the Rotary International Convention in Toronto. This is currently in approaching 35,000 trees.
