Dear District 7070 Rotarians,
Thank you does not begin to express how grateful we are for your incredible support of ShelterBox Canada. At the Rotary Uncorked District 7070 Conference, District Governor Neil Phillips presented me with a $10,000 cheque for ShelterBox Canada. I was so overjoyed, and want to share with you why. I have seen first hand what it is like for families to lose their homes, and the difference that ShelterBox aid makes in their recovery. I have also seen how Rotary and ShelterBox work together to make these magical moments happen all over the world........
There is an overwhelming amount of need right now, and the $10,000 from the District will go a long way to helping so many families in need. With the holidays around the corner, this is one of the best gifts you can give to families who have lost everything.
While the $10,000 cheque is absolutely amazing, it is just the tip of the iceberg of the impact you have made. So many of the Clubs in District 7070 have been incredible supporters, and many of you as individuals have also generously supported ShelterBox. For that, all of us at ShelterBox thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
One of ShelterBox’s major responses right now is in Bangladesh. The country is facing two major disasters – severe flooding due to one of the worst monsoon seasons on record, and hundreds of thousands of Rohingya’s coming into Bangladesh fleeing violence in Myanmar. The flooding at one point caused more than 1/3 of land to be submerged. ShelterBox has been working closely with Rotarians from District 3281, in particular the Rotary Club of Dhaka Kawran Bazar to reach families who have been affected.
Our teams have previously worked with these Rotarians on two other responses in Bangladesh. Without this partnership, we would not be able to get our aid into the country and to the people who need it the most. This is the Rotary partnership in action. Everywhere we go, you are there with us ensuring that together we can be as effective as possible.
Once again, from all of us at ShelterBox, thank you so much for your support. Together, we will ensure no family is left without shelter.
