My Fellow Rotarians,

It is with great pleasure that we announce Mark Chipman from the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise as our District Governor Nominee Designate.

Mark has been a passionate and engaged Rotarian since 2006 and has gained a wide range of experience at both the Club and District levels.  With Whitby Sunrise, he served as Club President in 2011, Fundraising Director from 2008-11, Ribfest Director from 2013-15 and has participated in humanitarian service for club projects in Laos, Thailand and the Dominican Republic. At the District level, Mark has served as Chair of the District Conference in 2014, Rotaract Chair from 2016-2018, Assistant District Governor from 2014-16 and Chair of the District Foundation Walk this past year. He has also facilitated several workshops and breakout sessions related to fundraising and membership at District Assembly and President-Elect Training Seminar events.

Mark has been very active in his community having served on the Durham Environmental Advisory Committee, the Brooklin Downtown Development Steering Committee, Durham Big Brothers, the 100 Men of Whitby and the RBC Run for the Kids event.

Mark started his career in urban/environment planning, however for the past 22 years has been in the Information Technology field including 18 years at RBC. He is currently an Agile Program Director for RBC’s Business Financial Services Technology & Operations group in Toronto delivering digital and online services to business clients. Mark is passionate about sports (he is always willing to talk about his beloved Leafs) and travel, having had the opportunity to visit and explore all 7 continents.

Mark and his wife Leslie have been married for 22 years (even though Leslie works at TD Bank) and currently, live in Whitby.  Leslie has also taken a very active role in Rotary participating in sweat equity projects, fundraisers and fellowship events and in the community, as part of the Big Brothers organization and a board member at Whitby Station Gallery.

Please join me in congratulating our new District Governor Nominee Designate, Mark, on his new role.
