BOB STEVENS - ROTARY CLUB OF BOWMANVILLE

Robert L. Stevens  1928-2022

Bob passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022 at the age of 94.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean (2021).  He is survived by his five children Debbie (Greg), Charles (Judi), Dianne (Chris), Barry (Fabienne) and Bev (Doug), seven grandchildren Janet, Courtney, Andrew (Amy), Brady (Natalie), Alexandra (Scott), Myles (Samantha) and Justin, and three great-grandchildren Ben, Norah and Evie. Bob was born in Bowmanville in 1928.  He attended Bowmanville High School and graduated from University of Guelph in 1950 with a B.Sc. in Dairy Science.  He returned to Bowmanville to operate Glen Rae Dairy and Glen Rae Farm for over 35 years.  A true entrepreneur, he then launched into a variety of new ventures:  Dairy Barn stores, Dip ‘N Sip Donuts, a trio of car washes and Bowmanville Country Club. He also had a successful real estate career for over 15 years.

Community was extremely important to Bob and he was very involved in raising funds for the community swimming pool at Bowmanville High School.  He was also a member of the Bowmanville Rotary club for over 70 years and was awarded the double sapphire Paul Harris award in 2010 for his long-term commitment to Rotary ideals. Bob was a people person.  He loved his family, his community and, above all else, his wife Jean.  He will be deeply missed. Bob’s family will be having a private ceremony to honour Bob’s life.

Donation in Bob’s honour may be made to The Bowmanville Rotary Club.
