In his April 2018 Newsletter, our District Governor Neil Phillips talks about Maternal and Child Health Month, the latest Rotary Foundation Annual report, the need to register for Rotary Leadership Institute, District 7070's Tree Planting on Earth Day , the AIDS Poker Walks in Toronto and Belleville, the need for volunteers at the Rotary International Convention in June, and he hopes to see us all at many of these events   - a busy April in District 7070.

Here is Neil's April letter .....

 My Fellow Rotarians:

April in Rotary is officially Maternal & Child Health Month. Our District has been directly involved in this area, through several global grants around the world; as well as locally for those in need. Is your Club involved in this Area of Focus?

The latest annual report (2016-17 Rotary year) for The Rotary Foundation was released this past month. It provides an excellent overview of the great works our funds have supported globally, in all areas of focus. I encourage you to take a few moments to read, and feel proud.

Our last Rotary leadership Institute (RLI) session of the Rotary year is being held April 14. We need registrations to make sure this proceeds.

Details of our District Tree Planting on Sunday, April 22 are now available. Click here to register; Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and friends of all ages welcome to help us plant. We’re also looking for details re your Club projects: we know there’s a lot more happening out there. Enter your own Club’s details here to add to our tally. Contact Kevin Power re any guidance or chat re all things tree-related.

Also in April is our annual AIDS Community Health Poker Walk. We have walks situated at both ends of the District (Belleville & Toronto), so easy for lots of people to participate. Show your support by registering to walk and raising funds – or supporting someone else.

I sent a detailed email re all things convention to all Rotarians recently. If you have not read – I urge you to do so. Most critically, we’re looking for over 1,200 more shifts of volunteers. Please sign up; or contact Dawn-Marie King or Lorraine Lloyd for more info.

Lots of events in April – looking forward to seeing many of you!

Yours In Rotary,

Neil
