Past District Governor Ron Dick and the District Governor Team hosted our annual District Governor Changeover Ceremony and Awards Presentations for more than 100 Rotarians and Rotaractors and their spouses from all over District 7070, on June 24, 2022 at the Jubilee Pavillion in Oshawa. We are pleased to present Ron's year-end closing remarks to everyone in District 7070.

Editor's Note: Congratulations to Past District Governor Ron Dick for an outstanding year as District Governor. He has encouraged and challenged us to "serve to Change Lives"  in our clubs and in our communities, locally and globally, as we transitioned from COVID. A job well done.

Here are the highlights of Past District Governor Ron Dick's address to the Rotarians at the District Governor Changeover Ceremony.....

2021-22 A Year In Review

DG Ron thanked Past DG Mark Chipman for all of his efforts during the Rotary COVID year as we attended Zoom meetings and were able to carry out some events.

He also thanked Past District Governor Ted Morrison, who convinced Ron to apply for District Governor.

As Ron took over as DG, he noted that we went from Zoom Meetings then to hybrid meetings, plus some events in-person like ribfests. One of his highlights he attended was the Rotary of Toronto's Tree of Life and the people he met and heard their stories of their personal lives.

We had the "Chicago" PETS (President Elect Training Seminar )  at Niagara On The Lake for the last 2 years of Club Presidents since we could not cross the border to Chicago and hope that we could all return due to the COVID restrictions at the border.

We had the 2021-22 District Conference in Oshawa and Ron thanked the committee for an excellent event. Thank you to Bowmanville Rotarian Joe Solway for an outstanding program. Ron encouraged everyone to register for the 2022-23 District Conference in October 14-16 at the Nottawasaga Inn as soon as possible. Room rates are good til August 15.

Ron was able to attend the 100th Anniversary of the Trenton Rotary Club and is looking forward to the Port Hope Rotary Centennial party on June 30.

He enjoyed the Rotary International Convention in Houston, where we learned that $15 million US was raised for Ukraine in the Rotary Foundation Disaster Response Fund. The other key announcement was that Rotary is now 1.3 million members and when the Rotaractors come in on July 1 , that will make 1.4 million members of Rotary.

Ron thanks his District Leadership Team including the District Committees, the Assistant Governors, The Gistrict Governor Team, and his wife and fellow Rotarian and Oshawa Club Secretary Karen Dick.

And for that I am proud, and for that I thank you for the honour and privilege to be your District Governor in 2021-22!

District Governor Ron
