Peace Fellows

Peace Fellows

Approximately 1,400 Rotary Peace Fellows are currently working full-time to build a lasting peace in countries around the globe.  Each of them studied at a Rotary Peace Center because a Rotarian or Rotary Club assisted them in applying for a Fellowship.

Each year, Rotary selects up to 130 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships at one of our peace centers. These fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses. Two types of peace fellowships are available.

Master's degree

We fund master’s degree fellowships at premier universities in fields related to peace and conflict resolution. The Masters Degree programs last 15 to 24 months and require a practical internship of two to three months during an academic break. The universities that function as Rotary Peace Centers are:

  • Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA
  • International Christian University, Japan
  • University of Bradford, England
  • University of Queensland, Australia
  • Uppsala University, Sweden
  • Makerere University, Uganda

Professional development certificate

For experienced professionals already at work (paid or voluntary) in peace-related fields we offer a 1 year program (10 weeks on site at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok and 42 weeks at home working on a supervised peace project. Up to 50 Peace Certificate Fellowships can be awarded each year.
