At the recent Feb. 6 training at Kishwaukee College, members of the leadership team met with Bobbi Burke, Chair of the Friendship Exchange Committee, informally to assess how best to implement Friendship Exchange within our district.
Many ideas were shared, but it was agreed that it is absolutely crucial that Rotarians in all corners of our district be involved in this district committee.
Exchanges are not only about our Rotarians choosing to travel to another part of the world on an Exchange, but it is also about welcoming into our district and making the arrangements to share various attractions of our district to those whom we welcome.
Presently Rotary International has joined Districts 6420 and 6440 together to allow for exchanges to reflect both the rural and urban sides of Illinois.
Planning is the time-consuming part of the program, but it is also the most important.
So once again District Governor Jim Nelson is seeking individuals to join the Friendship Exchange District Committee.

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members.
The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours.
The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address.
This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue.
Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.

At the Harvard Chamber of Commerce's annual awards event Jan. 29, the Harvard Rotary Club received the prestigious "Non-Profit Of The Year" award for 2015.
This is particularly significant recognition in terms of the Harvard club's upcoming annual Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner March 15, which serves as both a fund-raiser for the club and a major service project to the community.
Congrats!
