Annually, Rotary’s Council on Legislation receives and reviews numerous resolutions proposed by Clubs and Districts from around the world. Those adopted by the Council are then referred to the RI Board of Directors and Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees for their consideration. Each Rotary District has one representative on that Council. PDG Scott Shore as our Rep for 2020-2023 and PDG Steve Kuhn as Alternate, have reviewed 31 proposed Resolutions to cast our District’s vote on each by November 15. The resolutions can be found at https://my.rotary.org/en/cor/vote If you have any comment to share in regard to these pending Resolutions, please share those comments by email to DGScott6420@gmail.com before November 10.

Subjects of this year’s batch of proposed Resolutions include, among others: renewed focus on professional development and vocational service, suggested changes to the Four-Way Test, Rotary sponsorship of EarlyAct Clubs, whether Rotary’s non-political policy will continue to prohibit RI from taking a stance on such matters as climate change and nuclear arms controls, whether or how we will address needs arising due to COVID-19, and whether our women/child health focus might be expanded to also address senior health issues.

You may access the website above for the full text of all pending resolutions. Our own Clubs also have the ability to suggest Resolutions and triennial Legislation. Those procedures are outlined at https://my.rotary.org/en/document/how-propose-resolutions-council-resolutions and https://my.rotary.org/en/document/how-propose-enactments-council-legislation.

This is our opportunity to be heard on a wide variety of subjects. PDG Scott encourages all members to share your comments, concerns or questions so that this process is ours, collectively, as District 6420 Rotarians.
