At their January 2019 Board of Trustees meeting, some very noteworthy changes were made. The new vision statement was reiterated.

Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

People UNITE, people TAKE ACTION, people CREATE LASTING CHANGE.  That’s what Rotarians do.  It happens around the world, it happens in our own communities, and we as individual Rotarians are changed because of what we accomplish through Rotary.

Some specific changes enacted by the Trustees include:

** Increased the global grant maximum match by the World Fund from $200,000   to $400,000.  This reflects the Board’s growing commitment to larger, more

collaborative projects.

** Increased the amount of a global grant requiring Trustee approval from

$100,000 to $200,000.  The intent, again, is to encourage development of

larger projects by removing some financial limitations.

** Increased the World Fund match for DDF contributions to Polio Plus dollars

from $0.50 on the dollar to a dollar-for-dollar match with a maximum World

Fund contribution of $10 million (up from $5 million.

** Created the Disaster Response Fund to allow individual/club contributions to be  credited to annual giving totals and per capita averages, These contributions  are ineligible for SHARE or District Designated Fund allocation.  This action  reflects the desire of our members to help their fellow Rotarians in a time of a

natural disaster.  A donor cannot designate gifts to a particular disaster.

** Also created Disaster Response Grants to allow districts in affected countries to  apply for grants of $25,000 per grant to address the acute needs generated by  a major disaster. Districts can apply for more than one grant; however, only one  grant may be open at a time. The application process is similar to the process used for district grant applications.

These changes are the result of Trustees and staff listening to the issues brought forth by Rotarians around the world who identify issues/solutions and bring them to the attention of Trustees and staff.  There were more actions, but I focused on those that have the most impact on us in district 6420.
