It has been a very busy first three months of my year as Governor.  I have visited 41 out of 48 clubs as I start in again this month.  I will complete the club visits on November 1 when I visit my home club in Sycamore.  Again, I will tell you in my club visits I meet energetic/dedicated Rotarians providing service to their communities and have Fun doing that.  Club Presidents are dealing with the local challenges that are unique to their area.  No two clubs are alike as no two communities are alike.  I have observed all shades of Rotary and will tell you that RI President Ian Riseley would be very happy with what all of you are doing.   Rotary is not a cookie cutter organization  of 35,00+ clubs world-wide.   Our theme pin this year well represents our diversity in clubs and membership.

Important updates this month and beyond.

Oct 2-8:  Rotary Alumni Reconnect Week

Oct 24:  Rotary’s World Polio Day

Oct 30-Nov 5:  World Interact Week

Nov 4:  Long term student exchange interviews Sterling

Nov 4:  District Foundation Dinner at Brandywines in Dixon

The Council on Resolutions will begin voting on resolutions for Rotary International.  A resolution is a request to the RI Board or The Rotary Foundation Trustees to take an action that is outside the purview of the constitutional documents.  Ideally, a resolution should affect the Rotary world, rather than address local or administrative issues.  Bob Hammon is our district representative on this council.  To view the proposed resolutions go to: my.rotary.org/cor/vote.

December 4th, the District Governor’s Nominating Committee meets at CGH in Sterling to select your 2020-2021 governor.  If you are interested in being considered for this position please contact your club president or me.  The only requirement to be considered for the position is that you must have served as a club president 2016-2017 or earlier.  John Hurley from Loves Park is the committee chair and can also be contacted (jd122@aol.com).
