Charles “Chuck” Elizondo joined the Rotary Club of Grass Valley in 1974. He served the club as Sergeant at Arms, Bulletin Editor, Director and the President in 1979-1980. Subsequently, he served at the District level on the District Training Committee, as Governor’s Special Representative for formation of the Penn Valley club, Governor’s Area Representative, PETS Sergeant at Arms, International Service Chair, District Governor 2000-2001, P.E.T. 2002 General Chair. He chaired the Rotary Open World Committee involving eight districts in bringing civic leaders to the United Stares. Chuck was the 2003-2006 District Rotary Foundation Committee Chairman. In 2006 he was selected the RI President’s Representative to the District 7350 Conference. He served as the District Advisory Council Chairman for 2008-2010. Chuck has 36 years of perfect attendance. Chuck is a recipient of the Rotary International “Service Above Self Award” which is the highest honor given to a Rotarian.

His business career began in 1955 with Macy’s California. Over a span of 18 years he held supervisory positions in the Hillsdale and Stanford stores, and then operation management positions in the San Francisco Division Headquarters. In 1973 he and Carol bought a grocery store in Grass Valley that dated from 1922, expanded it to include a delicatessen, and operated it for 17 years. In 1991 they bought their first apartment complex and are currently in the apartment and commercial property rental business.

His civic and social contributions have been with the Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Businesses, California Grocers Association, Grass Valley Elks and Grass Valley Little and Major Leagues.

Chuck and Carol are parents of a son, Jon and daughter, Mary Grace and have five grandsons. Carol is Past Inner Wheel District Chair, 1998-1999. Chuck, Carol, Jon, Mary Grace and 5 grandsons are Paul Harris Fellows. Chuck and Carol are Major Donors and members of the Bequest Society. Chuck enjoys golf, fishing and cooking."
