Bob joined the Cameron Park Rotary Club in 1982. He has served 2 years as club secretary and was club president 1998-99. Bob has been the Area 6 coordinator for several GSE Teams. He was the Assistant Governor for Area 6 for 2 years and has spent 4 years as chairman of the District Grants Sub-committee. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow.

For the last 6 years he has been the leader of a 3-H Grant project to provide immunizations for children in Vladivostok and the (state) of Primorye in Russia. “I have made many friends in Russia and I believe this demonstrates how International Service can be a force for world peace.”

Bob was born in Jefferson City, Missouri and lived there through high school. “I enjoyed all sports and played many in school including football, basketball, and baseball.” He entered West Point in 1950. Upon graduation he entered the USAF and pilot training. After getting his “wings” he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command to fly B-47s. During his career in the USAF he flew several aircraft including B-57s, A-37s, and RF-4s. He also attended Purdue University and received a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He spent a tour of duty in Vietnam. After retiring from the USAF in 1977 he completed law school and received a law degree from McGeorge School of Law, Sacramento CA. Bob practiced law for 2 years. Then he was elected as a county supervisor in El Dorado County and served for 12 years. The last year (1992) he served as president of the California State Association of Counties. Currently he serves as a mediator

Bob and Barbara were married in 1955. While Bob was in the USAF they lived in many places including Little Rock Arkansas, West Lafayette Indiana, Guam, Albuquerque New Mexico, Austin Texas, and Sacramento California. They have 3 boys (grown men) and 5 grandchildren. After leaving the USAF they settled in El Dorado Hills, CA where the boys completed high school. In 2005 Bob and Barbara celebrated 50 years of marriage. They look forward to the wonderful experiences as a district governor and meeting many new friends. Barbara is also a Paul Harris Fellow."
