Red Nose Day 18 November 2016

DG Martin would like all Clubs to participate in Red Nose Day on 18 November to support Cure Kids

Red Nose Day
Cure Kids
The Child Health Research Foundation was an organisation Rotary founded in 1971 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Rotary in New Zealand and to address the high rates of illness and infant mortality in New Zealand. Today the Foundation is known as Cure Kids and with the ongoing support of Rotary, more than $38 million of vital medical research has been funded to help improve and save the lives of children living with serious illnesses and diseases both in New Zealand and around the world. Cure Kids focus on raising funds to enable high-impact health research to develop preventative approaches, improved treatments and, where possible, the cures children need. The breadth of the work Cure Kids supports is wide; just some of the projects Cure Kids has funded, or are currently funding include, childhood cancers, inherited heart conditions, cystic fibrosis, sudden unexpected death in infants (SUDI), stillbirth, burns, and child and adolescent mental health, among many others.  An independent study undertaken in 2015 demonstrated that all of Cure Kids funding is delivering measurable benefits for the health of children.
Plan for Cure Kids Red Nose Day
DG Martin would like all Clubs to participate in Red Nose Day on 18 November to support Cure Kids – last year Rotary Clubs across NZ raised over $17,000 on Red Nose Day and this year we’re aiming to raise even more! Red Nose Day is a fun event for Clubs to participate in, either through selling Red Nose Day merchandise in your local area, or by holding a Red Nose Day fundraiser with your Club. This year along with red noses, Cure Kids have also produced badges and wrist bands to help with our fundraising.  Some ideas and tools for fundraising activities Clubs can be involved in on Red Nose Day are at http://www.rednoseday.co.nz/fundraise/ideas-tools/  or you can contact our District Coordinator, Bronwyn Pullan bronwyn@bythesea.nz. To order your Red Nose Day merchandise please contact Whitney Smith on whitney@curekids.org.nz
