Status Report As At 19 September 2016

Clean water for drinking, cooking and washing is vital to humanity. In the Philippines millions of people have no access to safe clean water.

Rotary Club of Makati South, Manila, has initiated a project, the objective of which is to provide clean and safe drinking water  to poor communities in the Sasmuan and Angeles City areas of the Pampanga Province on the northern shores of Manila Bay in the main island of Luzon
The availability of clean portable water will be ensured through the drilling  of 19 deep wells, hand water pumps and 2 Skyhydrant filtration units. The beneficiaries of this will around 6,800 individuals from 2,000 families.

RC Wellington and RC Meppen (Germany) are partners with RC Makati on this project, having previously worked successfully together on another humanitarian project in the Philippines. There is an ongoing trusted relationship between these clubs. Port Nicholson Rotary Club was invited to join the partnership for the water project and this was approved by the RCPN board in April 2016.
