Currently District 7850 (Northern New England including Quebec, Canada) is visiting our District 9940.
Rotarians and their spouses from New Hampshire & Vermont (USA) and Quebec (Canada) are here on an International Rotary Friendship Exchange programme of 2 weeks (3-17 Feb), in a new shared style programme consisting of one week with District 9940 and the second week with District 9980, the southernmost District of the South Island.
The visiting Rotarians started their RFE programme on Monday at 10:00 with a visit to the American Embassy in Wellington, see photo with Ambassador Brown. They then spent the following days visiting sites in and around Wellington and meeting other Rotary clubs of: Eastern Hutt, Tawa, Plimmerton and Otaki.Monday 10 February, they fly to Dunedin, thanks to the tremendous effort of 9980 RFE coordinator (& Incoming AG) Peter Williams, who has put together a marvellous week’s programme including Otago Peninsula (Albatross colony), Portobello, Otago harbour, Catlins, Wanaka, Tekapo and much more.26 September – 10 October District 9940 has a similar group going to visit their District of 7850, in time for the spectacular Fall Foliage of that area.
Another RFE group from our District 9940 are packing their bags and will leave Wellington on 17 February and fly to New Orleans, USA for a 2 week International Rotary Friendship Exchange programme which includes the Mardi Gras, jazz and much more of the creole and Cajun flavour of that area !
We wish them well !
