Opportunities to expand our reach and increase our impact are everywhere. Members of the Rotary Club of Victoria who work at the University of Houston – Victoria (in District 5930) saw an opportunity on campus for students to engage in service projects and make a difference in their community.
Rotarian and Dean of the School of Business, Kenneth Colwell, encouraged Adjunct Professor Brook Garcia and Past President of the Business Student Association, Sharon Winn, to guide the effort of re-establishing a Rotaract club. With the support and leadership of District Governor-elect Kent Grier, along with several UH-V leaders, the Rotaract Club of Houston-Victoria was chartered this fall and is off to a great start.

They have a full slate of officers and are excited to work on a community garden project with the RC of Victoria to benefit a local food bank. Between this new Rotaract club, an Interact club, and three Rotary clubs in the area, there are endless opportunities for cross-club collaboration, particularly surrounding mentorship. Way to go, DGE Kent and District 5930!
