San Saba, Texas – The local Rotary Club of San Saba held its 40th annual Honor Student Banquet to recognize academically high-achieving students from Cherokee, Richland Springs, and San Saba ISDs.
   All recognized students and their parents were invited to attend the Banquet on the 19th of May, at 6:30 p.m. in the San Saba Civic Center. This year's banquet speakers were Tory and Rita Gant who have many years of experience speaking publicly and helping youth. The meal was catered by Pepperbellies and served by Rotarians. District Governor Kristy Vandenberg was also present to give the Rotary Minute.
   The Rotary Club honored 156 students, calling each by name and presenting them with medallions engraved with their name. Students who have achieved this recognition for all four years of Highschool also received a shadowbox for their medallions. A total of eight $1,000 scholarships were also awarded. Five Rotarian Scholarships went to Riley Robbins, Makinzey Saldivar, and Brenda Martinez from San Saba; Sierra Tharp from Richland Springs; and Brissa Baugh from Cherokee. Three Rotary EMS Memorial Scholarships went to    Piper Moats From Richland Springs, and Franco Franco and Allysa Ramos from San Saba. Jacqueline Carlson, President of The Rotary Club of San Saba distributed the awards.
Other Awards given that evening include the Rotarian of the Year Award given to Tom Griess and The Four Way Test Award given to Pastor Tom Brand. Pictures of all Honor Students and Award Winners can be found on The Rotary Club of San Saba’s Facebook page.
