Rotarians and Interact Club students will arrived at Ray H. Darr Elementary at noon on Friday, December 13th to read to first, second and third graders with Santa hats, books and candy in tow.

The Eagle Pass Rotary Club wanted to partner with a school to promote literacy which falls under one of the six areas of focus for Rotary, supporting education. This semester they will contribute $300 worth of books that will be utilized to reward students for their achievements in literacy. In addition to the book donation, a local business and Rotary member, Microtel, has donated two tablets for perfect attendance incentives as well.

Students of the Eagle Pass and CC Winn High School Interact Clubs read to the elementary students in their classrooms. In the last four years, the Rotary Club founded Interact Clubs within each high school to instill Rotarian values and a heart for service in the youth community.  The clubs are extremely active with officer elections, service projects and fundraising for their individual charity projects throughout the year.
