District Rotary Information Seminar: May 19

The Value Proposition of Rotary

We will have the second Rotary Information Seminar this year on May 19 at the Doubletree Airport Hotel, 37 NE Loop 410 (at McCullough) in San Antonio, 7:30 am. This is a member recruiting and public information event. We will publicize the meeting to the general public, and ask that area Rotarians bring their guests and associates, as well as any members recently joining their club.

The seminar is being held to provide information to the community about the benefits that Rotary Clubs, and Rotary International provide to Rotary members and the communities they serve. A buffet breakfast will be provided. Attendees will also learn about the Rotary clubs in the area and can request to attend any club close to where they live or work All attendees are asked to register in advance because space is limited. Each attendee will also be asked to make a $5 minimum donation to the Rotary International Foundation, a 4 star Charity Navigator awardee, and funder of Rotary’s Polio Plus program, world peace scholarships, and other beneficial interests for people and communities provided for by Rotary International. Reserve a place by calling 210-575-546-5476 or on the rotary5840.org website.

The meeting will provide insight into the value proposition of Rotary:

  1. To develop relationships with a diverse group of successful people who are Rotarians.
  2. To develop understanding and participation in local and world community issues and get to know local leaders and about Rotary’s world leadership in 6 areas of service to communities and people worldwide.
  3. To obtain leadership development opportunities and mentoring by Rotarians on the many activities of clubs and charitable interests.
  4. Be part of a Rotary club and Rotary International, which empowers its members to benefit and change communities, locally and globally, to raise money and direct resources to where they may be needed and will make a difference.

Rotary International is the largest service organization in the world and is a non-profit, non-denominational, non-governmental entity committed to world peace, communities, and assisting people in need through 6 distinct areas of service. Rotary Clubs in 44 counties included in the South Central Texas Rotary District 5840 provided nearly $6 million in money, goods, and volunteer services for people’s needs, and over 700 scholarships to local deserving students, in their communities last year.

Attendees to the seminars can also learn about becoming an associate member of Rotary in the San Antonio area, where they would receive regular information on the work and activities of the 30 clubs in the San Antonio area, including service projects, community leader awards meetings, club meetings, key speakers and programs, social functions of Rotary, and fundraising events such as Pints for Polio, Alamo Heights Night, Mission Run/Walk, and Jeans & Jewels Jubilee.
