Ripon community partners collaborate to offer October 28 virtual COVID-19 vaccine Q&A forum

Accurate COVID-19 vaccine information is critical, and can help stop common myths and rumors. It can be difficult to know which sources of information you can trust. Before considering vaccine information on the Internet, check that the information comes from a credible source and is updated on a regular basis.

Residents of Ripon and surrounding communities will have a unique opportunity to hear firsthand from local trusted medical providers about the COVID-19 vaccine to help with decision making.

The Ripon Rotary Club, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region and the Fond du Lac County Health Department are collaborating to offer a virtual COVID-19 vaccine Q&A forum from 6 - 7 pm on Thursday, October 28.

The virtual Q&A forum, available through Zoom, will feature the following experts.

  • Punit Kumar, MD, Internal Medicine Physician, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region
  • Jeanne Lyke, MD, Pediatrics Physician, SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital
  • Theodore Miller, MD, Obstetrics/Gynecology Physician, SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital
  • Kim Mueller, Health Officer, Fond du Lac County Health Department
  • Dan Wilk, Ambulatory Care Pharmacist, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region

“Rotary has always worked to improve the lives of people everywhere,” according to Liz Nevitt, Ripon Rotary Club immediate past president. “Our biggest initiative was to eradicate polio and we are almost there. By helping to administer vaccines to children around the world, polio has almost disappeared.

“The COVID-19 vaccines are effective at helping protect against severe disease and death - including variants currently circulating (e.g., Delta variant),” Nevitt adds. “Ripon Rotary wants to help inform the public about the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines, just as it has helped vaccinate the world against polio. Helping with the work done by SSM Health and all health care providers to get people vaccinated is important to Rotary, so we can get the community back to normal as soon as possible.”

COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting individuals from COVID-19, especially severe illness and death. COVID-19 vaccines can reduce the risk of people spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.

For those unable to participate, a link to the forum will be hosted on the websites and social media pages for the Ripon Rotary Club, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region, and the Fond du Lac County Health Department.
