Sibebe Survival - 2012
IT’S TIME ONCE AGAIN FOR THE SIBEBE SURVIVOR!!
THE ROTARY CLUB OF MBABANE MBULUZI, SWAZILAND IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT THIS YEAR THE EVENT IS BEING HELD ON SUNDAY 29th July 2012.
Our participants have increased annually and last year we had 3,284 climbers that survived Sibebe. Last year’s event raised E 501,765-81 (just over five hundred and one thousand Emalangeni) which was used for various Rotary projects such as the distribution of wheelchairs, a borehole in Lavumisa, support of the prosthetics department at the Mbabane Government hospital and in particular their club foot programme, school bursaries for 19 children, Rotary International’s Polio Plus vaccination campaign, 400 dictionaries for rural schools, Pit Latrines, school uniforms and shoes for three schools, support of Mustard Seed’s eye testing for women, a water project in Mpolonjeni incorporating a dam and solar pumping of water into tanks and distribution to the community as well as a number of other smaller projects.
We also support projects in the Mbuluzi community where we host the event, such as the provision of water tanks and piping and support of their electrification project.
The Rotary club of Mbabane Mbuluzi would like to extend to you the opportunity to take part in this great event and help raise money to benefit people & communities less privileged than ourselves.
Once again, this year the challenge will be to walk to the top of Sibebe, (admiring the wonderful views en route) and down again; bottled water is provided to all walkers and we encourage all walkers to carry at least 1 litre of water with them.
Certificate presentations, prize giving and breakfast will be provided at the bottom next to the Mbuluzi Clinic.
In an effort to minimize the impact to the environment the Rotary Club will impose a participation limit of 4,000 walkers (please register early).
Registration for participation will take place on the 21st and 28th July 2012.
The registration will take place at the Mountain Inn hotel between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on both dates.
