Doug Kinlyside
Doug has been a member of the Rotary Club of Bathurst Daybreak since 2006. He especially enjoys leaning more about Rotary, by attending District Training and District Conferences. In 2013, Doug was asked to create and chair a fundraising committee to extend Bathurst’s Daffodil Cottage, a treatment centre for cancer patients. With the help of a small committee, over $700,000 was raised, the building extension was completed and opened in May 2016.

During the Bathurst Bicentennial year, Doug was recognised as one of the 200 Living Legends of Bathurst for his service to community and was nominated as Citizen of the Year in 2017.

Doug has a Masters degree in Survey Science and is a Churchill Fellow.  He had a 40 year career in Surveying and Mapping with the NSW Public Sector, taking a special interest in satellite positioning techniques from the 1980’s. His career highlight was planning and managing CORSnet-NSW, a network of over 200 Continuously Operating Reference Stations located throughout the State. The technology and physical infrastructure of this network places NSW in good stead for the highly accurate realtime positioning needed by Government and private sector organisations.

Doug is married to Paula, they have two adult children and one granddaughter.

See the story - Rotary in Action by Doug - From a landscape of steel, concrete and bitumen (with water views!) to a landscape of dust and decimated livestock with no water at all, two Rotary Clubs worked to together to bring hope and joy to some young Australians in a time of need.  Once again Rotary – doing good in the world!
