At a recent morning meeting, Shelton Skookum Rotarians organized collected items for donation to Turning Pointe, one of the largest domestic violence shelters in the state of Washington.
The project’s purpose was to provide temporary residents with much needed everyday items like personal hygiene supplies, diapers, seasonal clothing and more. Skookums wrote notes of support to current shelter guests and signed donated children’s books.

The shelter offers refuge to women and children in a 60-bed shelter, where clients can stay up to 90 days. Most arrive in distress and with little in the way of material items and supplies. The organization also offers legal and medical advocacy, prevention education, referrals, support groups and action for social change.

Turning Pointe Executive Director, Gina Blanchard Reed spoke at a subsequent morning meeting, shared clients’ stories and accepted a Skookum Rotary Community Grant for Turning Pointe’s Adopt a Room program.
