South Berwick-Eliot Rotary Club
DISTRICT GRANT PROVIDES 6 AEDS

On September 27th the South Berwick-Eliot Rotary Club hosted a concert of the Boston-based all-saxophone band, the Saxyderms, at the Marshwood High School auditorium.

The concert raised money for a district grant to provide 6 AEDs (defibrillators) for the town of Eliot – the local club raised over $2000 and Rotary District 7780 granted the rest of the funds for this life-saving project.  This was great publicity for the club and Rotary as a whole, with announcements broadcast on the radio, articles in all the local newspapers, posters around town, on the town website & Facebook pages and blogs.

The Marshwood High School Interact club got into the act as well, literally, with 3 Interact-ers performing as the opening act for the concert, and also helping out at the refreshments stand and as ushers.

The audience raved about the great entertainment and the wonderfully eclectic variety of music offered by the Saxyderms.  When the band took a short break, President Deb DeColfmacker spoke about the good work Rotarians do and the local club does for the community and the world, and Fire Chief Jay Muzeroll expressed his appreciation to the Rotarians for organizing this worthwhile event.

This past week, the AED’s arrived (see picture), and the Chief distributed them to the various sites around town that so badly needed these.

Thank you, District 7780, for the generous grant and to our Rotarians for making this such a successful, informative and enjoyable event!
