DISC’s mission is to support and improve the reach and awareness of international activities in the District.
We have also put together the International Outreach Teams for the past 4 years, and are planning the future ones. We meet every six weeks via Zoom or hopefully soon in person again!
The 21/22 Committee meetings are on Thursdays at 1:00 pm on these dates: 7/29, 9/9, 10/21, 12/2, 1/13, 2/24, 4/7, 5/19, 6/30. Existing members include Emma Bodwell, Chair, Bridgton-Lake Region Club; Bill Dunn, Yarmouth Club; Jeremy Gould, Freeport Club; Carol Madsen, Bridgton-Lake Region Club; John Sullivan, Portsmouth Club; and Steve Wight, Bethel Club. During the pandemic, we began hosting very successful International Cafés via Zoom. This allowed us to bring in participants and/or Rotarians from Zambia, Colombia, England, Dominican Republic and other locations to highlight existing and potential projects. We also had folks from the District and elsewhere in the USA participate to talk about their international projects.
Future Saturday morning International Cafes will be on these dates: 9/18, 10/23, 12/4, 1/15, 2/26, 4/9, 5/14. Mark your calendars and join us.
A new project we are developing is the District Resource Network (DRN). We are seeking a Champion to bring this resource together. The Champion may be a Rotarian who knows everyone and can complete the resource on his or her own. But it could be an excellent project for a new Rotarian interested in learning more about Rotary and meeting more people in the District. Required will be skills in data management, at the very least with Excel. Does this project speak to you? If so, contact Emma.
